Gone are the days..

Long time since I returned to this page. A lot happened during this time, especially in my life. Call it Luck or anything but I made into NITIE, Mumbai. My two years of CAT preparation had come a fruitful end at last. Last two days had been very hectic at NITIE with almost no sleep at all. Seniors started their induction sessions (ragging us intellectually) by assigning case studies, business plans and quizzes etc. Till 1 or 2 pm night we have some games and sessions and from then the real game starts. Each mid-night they assigned some work like case studies, business plans etc just to make us sleep less and get used to B School culture. But overall it had been great fun but with some pains of losing our sleeps. One important thing about NITIE is its greenery. It is unmatchable with small hills all over. And yes, our class rooms too are situated in a small hill. To reach our class rooms we go to climb nearly 150 steps (!!!) every day, that too twice, for morning and afternoon session. Near by, we have the beautiful powai lake. The serene view of it from our class rooms used to provide me very good sleep even with out any pills (As usual i slept on the first day which was an alum speech conducted in our class room). Now that all my induction stuffs are over I am sitting here relaxed at my hostel room wasting our wireless network’s bandwidth by useless chatting and browsing.

When i was thinking that in what way it is going to be the different in the upcoming days except missing my good old friends, the following struck me immediately.

First of all I got shift form credit card to debit again. No more lavish hotels, treats and purchases. The most difficult thing to forgo.

Moving back to Missed calls and sms, from post paid corporate plan to prepaid students pack.
Back to books and midnight tea during exams.

No more “once in month” visit to home town, as Mumbai is one and half day travel from my home town.

One more thing that is worrying me a lot is Hindi. People here often converse in Hindi and for me it is still “Tumara naam kya hi” only. To add insult to this injury is there is a traditional program at NITIE called “Mandi” by august start, during which the students will be asked to roam around Mumbai streets and sell some products. The percentage of the sale we make will decide our internal marks in one of our subject.

There is a lot to list which might ease out in the upcoming days, but whatever it might be, I wish that my stay at NITIE would be happy and enjoyable.

Memorable visit to Infosys , Mysore...

Hi Guys..I hav been posted in the Transportation Managent Team - Devolopment Team, the core R&D team of manhattan Associates.. I was pretty confident during training tat i wud be in Testing but unfortunately (and fortunately too) i was misplaced in devolopment tat too in the core R&D team of MANH . Fortunate, bcoz the devolopment training is good and our team head is very cool and our team members too.. Lot of works every week and finnaly we were able to find time last saturday to go to Mysore and c our guys at infy.Everytime i think of mysore , the first thing strikes my mind is the Palace and the brindhavan garden , but from that saturday trip , palce and garden became less impressive compared to the infosys training cum development centre at mysore.. Its said that the Mysore campus is The Dream Project of Mr.NR Murthy and no one other than Mr.Murthy wud hav such a vision and will be able to bring it true..Hats Off Mr.NR Murthy.

The training centre is not merely a training center, its a really a small town covering 350 acres ( if arthi is rite) containing all the facilities we need. Superb hostels, world class classrooms which can accomodate over 100 ppl (its comfortable for sleeping too), bowling, swimming pool, big Multiplex, shopping mall,ATMs,facilities for playing cricket, football, shuttle ,snooker etc.. Moreover there are about 3000 cycles which cud be picked up at any place and left at any place within the campus. But the point is the resources are not fully utilized by the employees .To be precise they dont find time to use many facilities.Even on saturdays and sundays they hav project work .For example it was the first time jaga came for bowling with us, he doesnt know the what film they are screening and show timings .. leave jaga, he didnt change , he is the same jagadeesh which he used to be. Its the case with arthi and govi too .I also heard that jaga is one among topper and arthi is next to him( am i right arthi?).This is the last week and its pretty free for them itseems , so arthi and jaga plz do kno abt some places inside the center and get to kno about them.

We had our lunch at Floating restaurant , a scenic place where many truths about gopal's new life came out. He will get tensed if i tell the matter in public so plz ask gopal or any of arthi, jaga, slk or to me personally. We roamed around the campus after that heavy lunch and was bugged up by karthi(a.k.a kaena) and his photo sessions. Every new place , be it tennis court, swimming pool or even rest rooms , he stopped there and took some stills, that too alone... one more info guys ( sorry , this is the last and most important one) , maintenance is important for everything and our NR.Murthy had laid plans for that also . Weekly cleaning of hostels , even roads, varnishing the needed, cleaning the window panes , etc .. Marvelous maintenance work carried out inside the campus.

In short we are missing many things by not being there at infosys, but we also have to compensate on many factors ,which we were not ready to ,during our college days . We would not know the value of the things which we have in our hand and will realize it only when we loose them. We are(I am) missing the campus ,hence this blog and infy guys will realize this only after some time..

Elections elections all d way...

Its hot to start my first blog with the election news and the ever hot politics.. Guys kindly ignore some spelling and grammar mistakes ,if any present in this blog .
Finally the results of the 2006 TN assembly elections came to an end with its as usual style.. Its very hot here out at my hometown and thank god the elections came to my rescue. No friends out here and i was longing for some entertainment and no movies no songs and it was the election campaign and manifestos of the rival dravidian parties provided me with a full time entertainment. It was a mixture of comedy , action and all the ingredients of a pakka masala film and the tragedy today with ADMK losing out was sad for me.. Ok i will tell why.. My first ever vote i made in my life ,for ADMK went in vain as the person i voted for lost with a margin of 600 votes! That was pity as i enquired many in my nearby place and got a view that he(Ex Minister Mr.Nainar Naganderan) is a nice person and will do some good for our constituency.. Ok leave it..
Coming to our full time entertainer ,the campaign which provided with the comedy track and many actual reel comedians campaigning for thier parties provided me and my father with a lot of comedy.. Our "all in one" TR was bouncing like a ping ball between admk and dmk with knowing he's the monkey at the center with his own party LDMK ( he he.. party with no Latchiyam calling itself as Latchiya Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam).
Vaiko , he needs a mention here and i luv to hear his speech .But he lost his respect when he switched from DMK alliance to ADMK alliance. What cud be done, afterall politics and auction sale are same.Who bids for higher price gets it.Many more like sarathkumar, bhagyaraj, senthil and many ppl added masala to this election drama.
One thing was clear , vijayakanth's DMDK won a considerable percentage(8.5% if iam correct) of total amount ,needs a look in . Eventhough only vijayakanth won and remaining contestants of DMDK lost ,he has certainly made a breakthrough in the TN politics as MDMK ,which was in the field for many years opened its account at TN assembly only this time .Karthick too made a slight impact in the elections, my neighbours say ,but i dont think so. Guys, i got reminded of the interview which Karthick gave to Sun Tv and beleive me or not , i have not seen such a leader of a political party blabbering something and i wasted another hour listening to the useless crap, sorry i was forced to listen to it as my father and others at my house were seriously involved in that.
Ya, the next important matter is manifesto. Our Union Finance minsiter called the DMK's as the hero of the election campaign and it definitely worked guys. The opposition party who were first critisizing the freebies made a U turn in a few days . The also started to announce freebies like free rice, 4 gram gold for thaali and a Comp(!) for students passing twelth standard . Oh god , the finance minsiter was along the DMK alliance and whether he had read the manifesto fully? A free colout tv for all ppl below poverty line!!! Is that possible Mr.FM ? We have to think this. Free TV ok but who gives the cable connection and once again it is the sun family providing the cable line at an ever increasing cost .Free gas stove ok, but the gas cylinders price is going to increase by whomping 130 rupees. Dont think that i am against DMK , there were also equally silly freebies announced in the ADMK manifesto and they were increasing this unrealistic count till the last day of election campaign,ya it was the free comp announcement.
Ok i need to come to an end , i like to conclude with a dialouge from Dhool film in which vivek would say this,"when Gandhiji called ppl for politics all the good hearted ppl came forward recognizing that gandhiji called for them, but now the gud ppl keep out of politics thinking that the politics is only for rouges and corrupt and there is a long distance between them and politics",think of it and comment ...
